Export from your current app
Look for the export option in the app you use today and save the file. Each app exports its own format, and the list below says which one Monely reads.

Accounts
Monely creates one account for each account found in the file, keeping the original name, and guesses the type from that name: card, investment, cash, loan or checking. On the Setup Accounts screen you review the list and set the current balance and the color of each one before confirming.
Categories
Monely does not invent categories. On the Category Mapping screen you link each category found in the file to one of your own, and the screen counts how many are still unmapped. What you leave unmapped is not imported. In a statement or spreadsheet there is no mapping: records land in a default category by type, which you adjust afterwards.
What you already have
Importing from one of the five apps rebuilds your data from the file: the accounts and records you have today are archived, and the confirmation screen says how many, in numbers, before you go ahead. Revert Import restores exactly what was archived. Importing a statement or spreadsheet only adds and archives nothing. Either way, the original app is untouched.

Which apps can I import from into Monely?
Five apps have a direct importer: Wallet (BudgetBakers), Minhas Finanças, Money Manager (Realbyte), Bluecoins and Splital. Beyond those, Monely reads a bank statement in OFX or QFX and a spreadsheet in CSV, TSV, XLS or XLSX. Apps without a direct importer, such as Mint, YNAB, Mobills or Organizze, can only come in through a spreadsheet.
Which file format does each importer accept?
Wallet: CSV, XLS or XLSX. Minhas Finanças: up to three CSV files, one for income, one for expenses and one for transfers. Money Manager: XLS or XLSX. Bluecoins: CSV. Splital: CSV. Bank statement: OFX or QFX. Spreadsheet: CSV, TSV, XLS or XLSX. PDF statements are not accepted.
How do I import data from Wallet to Monely?
In the Wallet app, go to Settings -> Export Data and export your records. Then, in Monely, go to Settings -> Imports -> Wallet and select the exported file, in CSV, XLS or XLSX. Monely shows a preview before writing anything.
How do I import a bank statement or a spreadsheet?
In Monely, go to Settings -> Imports -> Statement or spreadsheet, choose the account that will receive the records and select the file. Bank statements are read in OFX and QFX; spreadsheets in CSV, TSV, XLS and XLSX. PDF is not accepted, so look for the OFX option when you download the statement from your bank.
What happens to my categories when I import?
Monely does not create categories on its own. In the five app importers there is a Category Mapping screen where you link each category found in the file to one of your Monely categories, and the screen tells you how many are still unmapped. Will I lose my data when importing?
It depends on the type of import, and Monely says which one you are in before you confirm. Importing from one of the five apps rebuilds your data from the file: the accounts and records you have today are archived, and the confirmation screen states how many. Revert Import, in Settings -> Imports, restores exactly what was archived. Importing a statement or spreadsheet only adds records to the account you chose and archives nothing. In every case your data in the original app stays intact, since exporting only creates a copy.
Does importing work on the FREE plan?
Yes! Importing works on every plan. On the free plan you start with a welcome bonus of 100 records, which grows to 500 as you refer friends, and what you import does not consume that bonus. After the bonus, the limit is 50 transactions per month: if the file brings more than what is left for the month, consider the PRO plan.
Can I request support for another app?
Yes. In Monely, go to Settings -> Imports -> Suggest another app, type the app's name and attach a file exported from it, in CSV, TSV, XLS or XLSX. That screen does not import anything: it is how we study the format and decide which app to support next. You can also write to contato@monely.app.
How long does the import take?
It depends on the amount of data. Typically, files with up to 1,000 transactions are processed in a few seconds. Larger files may take a few minutes.
